Cope Aesthetic

Both walls are made from the same limestone material. They are on different parts of the same property. Which cope style do you prefer and why?

  1. Walk around or climb it? Depends on the walls purpose. Personally I like the flat top. It is more inviting and makes a great elongated platform from which to view the world.

  2. I like the flat top too. Never liked the look of vertical copes myself. And as pointed out a flat top gives you the ability to sit on the wall.

  3. Wow I sure wish we had stone that nice where I live. I like the flat copes which are the style where I live. The thing is they are always in short supply. Beautiful walls both of them.

  4. I like the vertical coping. It says 'wall is done'. The flat finish leaves doubt in my mind if the wall is completed.

  5. I like both, and I think each has its function - flat copes are inviting, saying "Open a beer and sit down", upright copes mean business "Sheep in, trespassers out". So it depends on the context - if it's a wall flanking a path close to a house or terrace I'd go with flat copes (that way there's always an opportunity to put down a pot of herbs or a tray or even gardening tools), for a wall closing off a property I'd prefer upright copes.
