Today we finished the dry stone wall workshop in Redwood city California. The students did great.Two sections of wall totaling forty six linear feet were completed in two days. The finishing touch was the creation of a small arch between the two walls which John Scott and I built of very rounded hand-picked Sonoma County Rhyolite. When the arch and wall were completed it was picture taking time. It is always a bit of a celebration the moment when a wall is actually finished. People grab there cameras and take photos as if the wall were going to disappear any moment. Happily this wall will be here at the Lyngso stone yard for many years. It will stand as a testimony to the fact that ordinary people can build beautiful structural dry stone walls if they put their minds and hands to it.
